The sensor
- What it reads
- Mechanical and digital meters, pressure and temperature gauges, level indicators, display panels and status lamps. Anything a person can read, the camera can.
- How it reads
- A photo of the instrument at each interval, read on the device by Waltero's edge AI. Only the value is transmitted, never a video stream; the image behind any reading is available for audit.
- Reading interval
- Configurable per sensor in Mimir, from every 15 minutes to once a day. Hourly is the usual default for levels and pump stations; daily for household meters.
- Mounting
- Hinged adapter over the existing instrument. No plumbing, wiring or modification of the asset; the meter stays readable by hand.
- Power
- Battery powered, 10+ years at typical intervals. Batteries are replaced by removing two screws.
- Environment
- Sealed housing engineered for chambers, wet wells, pits, meter boxes and outdoor cabinets.
- Tamper detection
- The sensor reports if it is moved or opened.
Connectivity
- Network
- LTE-M, NB-IoT or LTE cellular with a SIM in every sensor; Wi-Fi where a site prefers it. Coverage is checked per site before installation.
- OT and IT
- None required on cellular. The sensor never joins your SCADA, OT or office network and needs no port, VLAN or firewall rule; it reads the instrument from the outside.
- Gateways
- None. Each sensor communicates with Mimir directly; there is no hub, repeater or on-site server.
- Below ground and in chambers
- LTE-M and NB-IoT are designed for deep-indoor coverage. A connection survey per site confirms it before sensors go up.
Security & data
- Connections
- Outbound only and encrypted. The sensor calls out to Mimir; nothing can call in to it.
- Audit images
- The image behind any reading is available on request, so a disputed value can be checked by eye.
- Attack surface
- No inbound ports and, on cellular, no presence on your OT or office network, so a sensor cannot be used as a way in.
- Ownership
- Your readings are yours: export any range as CSV, or pull them through the API.
Mimir platform
- Readings
- Every point on one screen, up to date as of the last interval, with the thumbnail behind each value.
- Alarms
- Thresholds and rate-of-change rules per point, with notifications to the people you choose.
- Reporting
- Readings per point, per site and per period; consumption per customer meter and per DMA; overflow and abstraction records; exports to Excel for regulatory and ESG reporting.
- Integration
- REST API and webhooks; readings can be pushed to SCADA, GIS, the billing system or a data warehouse; MQTT is available.
- Access
- Web application on desktop and mobile; an organisation per utility, with users and roles per plant, network or team.
