Hospitality monitoring

One property. Every system monitored.

Hover a part of the hotel to see what Waltero measures there, click it for details and use cases. Every pin is a W-Sensor reading the meters, gauges and tanks you already have.

Water tanks & reservoirs

Roof tanks, break tanks and reserves

Zone: Utilities & metering

Know the level before the top floor runs dry.

Roof and break tanks are the hotel's water buffer. When a float sticks or a fill valve fails, the first sign is usually a guest on the top floor with no water. A W-Sensor gives you an up-to-date level curve for every tank and an alarm before it gets that far.

What we monitor

  • Tank level — Vision AI reads the level in the sight glass or against a calibrated scale, sampled at the interval you set, with low-level and overflow alarms.
  • Fill and draw-down — Fill cycles versus consumption reveal leaks, stuck valves and unusual night use.
  • Stored-water temperature — Where the tank has a thermometer or a display, Vision AI reads it and keeps the temperature trend for Legionella control records.

Fuel & gas supply

LPG tanks, gas meters and diesel

Zone: Utilities & metering

Never run an LPG tank dry again.

Kitchens, boilers and generators depend on fuel that is usually checked by eye. Waltero reads the level gauge on the LPG tank and the gas meter with Vision AI, so refills are planned on data and consumption is allocated to the department that used it.

What we monitor

  • LPG and diesel level — Vision AI reads the existing tank gauge; reorder alarms at the level you set.
  • Gas meter reading — Frequent reads of the utility gas meter and sub-meters for kitchens and boilers.
  • Cost allocation — Gas per kitchen, per boiler and per outlet, matched to covers and occupancy.
  • Generator fuel & status — Day-tank level and the panel status of the standby generator, so it is ready when the grid is not.

Energy & utility meters

Main meters and sub-meters

Zone: Utilities & metering

Every meter on the property, read every hour.

Most hotels still read their electricity, water and gas meters by hand once a month, and the sub-meters for tenants and departments even less often. Waltero reads the meters you already have, no meter swap, and turns them into hourly data.

What we monitor

  • Meter reading — Vision AI reads mechanical and digital meters in place: electricity, water, gas and heat.
  • Tenant and outlet billing — Accurate sub-metering for restaurants, shops, spa concessions and conference space.
  • ESG and owner reporting — Consumption per occupied room and per square metre, ready for GRESB, CSRD and brand sustainability reports.
  • Anomaly alerts — Night baseline and spikes flagged before they show up on the invoice.

Learn more

Pumps & booster sets

Booster pumps, circulation and transfer pumps

Zone: Plant room

Know how each pump normally runs, and see when it doesn't.

Booster sets keep the pressure on the top floors and circulation pumps keep hot water at the tap. Waltero learns a fingerprint of how each pump normally runs and reports deviations, so a pump that starts behaving differently is a planned job instead of a night call-out.

What we monitor

  • Pump fingerprint — A learned baseline of vibration, acoustics and run pattern: run events and their duration, trends over time, and an alert when a pump deviates from its normal behaviour.
  • Pressure — Vision AI reads the existing discharge pressure gauge and alerts when it leaves its normal band.
  • Run time & energy — Starts, run hours and kWh per cubic metre pumped where there is an energy meter to read.

Learn more

Talk to us about pumps & booster sets

Boilers & hot water

Boilers, calorifiers and hot-water loops

Zone: Plant room

Hot water at the tap, and the temperature log to prove it.

Domestic hot water is a guest-satisfaction issue and a compliance issue. Waltero reads the gauges and thermometers already fitted to boilers, calorifiers and the hot-water loop, so the temperature log keeps itself and the Legionella records are always current.

What we monitor

  • Flow & return temperature — Vision AI reads the existing thermometers on calorifiers and the hot-water loop at a set interval, with Legionella threshold logging.
  • Boiler gauges — Vision AI reads pressure and temperature gauges already on the boiler.
  • Fuel per boiler — Gas or oil consumption per boiler for efficiency tracking.
  • Compliance records — Automatic temperature logs for water-safety audits.

Learn more

Talk to us about boilers & hot water

Chillers & cooling

Chillers, cooling towers and AHUs

Zone: Plant room

The biggest energy user on the property, measured properly.

Cooling is typically the largest electricity cost in a warm-climate hotel. Waltero meters the chiller plant, reads its gauges and tracks cooling-tower make-up water so you can see kWh per ton of cooling and catch drift early.

What we monitor

  • Chiller electricity — kWh per chiller and per AHU where there is a sub-meter to read, at the interval you set.
  • Pressure & temperature gauges — Vision AI reads refrigerant and chilled-water gauges in place.
  • Cooling tower biocide dosing — Biocide and inhibitor drum levels plus make-up water, so the Legionella treatment log is always current.
  • AHU filter pressure — Differential-pressure gauges on air handlers read on every check: change filters on pressure, not on the calendar.
  • Compressor & fan behaviour — Run events, duration and trends from a vibration fingerprint on compressors and tower fans, with an alert on deviation from the normal pattern.

The hotel

Every system on the property, on one screen

Zone: The hotel

From manual rounds to continuous monitoring.

Chief engineers still walk the property with a clipboard: meters in the basement, gauges in the plant room, tank levels on the roof. Waltero puts a battery-powered W-Sensor on each of those points; it reads them at the interval you choose and sends every reading to Mimir, so the whole hotel is visible from one screen, and from the BMS you already run. Anything staff still walk to and write down, a W-Sensor can read.

What we monitor

  • One dashboard for the property — Water, energy, gas, tanks and plant equipment in one view, with alarms to the duty engineer's phone.
  • Feeds your BMS, and can drive it — Open API and MQTT into the building management system and your FM partner's platform. Mimir can also signal the BMS: kitchen extraction that follows the cooking load, HVAC that follows occupancy in ballrooms and gyms.
  • Cost per occupied room — Consumption per department and per occupied room, ready for owner reports and ESG disclosures.
  • Installed by your FM partner — No cabling, no downtime: a sensor is fitted in minutes on the equipment you already have.

Guest rooms

Floors, wings and room blocks

Zone: Guest areas

Consumption per floor, per wing, per occupied room.

Room blocks are where water and energy are actually used, and where a running toilet or a stuck fan-coil goes unnoticed for weeks. Sub-metering by floor or riser turns a monthly total into something housekeeping and engineering can act on.

What we monitor

  • Floor sub-metering — Water and electricity per floor or riser, read from the existing sub-meters.
  • Night-flow leaks — Water that never stops at 3 a.m. flags a leaking cistern or tap.
  • Per occupied room — Consumption normalised by occupancy from your PMS for brand and owner KPIs.

Pool & spa

Pools, spa and wellness water

Zone: Guest areas

Pool chemistry and water use, without the twice-daily test walk.

Pool plant runs on rounds: test the water, check the filter gauge, top up the balance tank. Waltero reads the instruments already in the plant room so the log fills itself and the pool team is called only when something drifts.

What we monitor

  • Chlorine, pH / ORP & temperature — Vision AI reads the existing controller display and pH / ORP gauges; readings logged for the health inspector.
  • Filter pressure — Backwash when the differential pressure says so, not by the calendar.
  • Balance tank & make-up water — Level and top-up volumes to spot leaks in the pool shell or pipework.
  • Chlorine feeder & dosing tanks — Feeder and dosing-tank levels with reorder alarms.

Learn more

Kitchens & restaurants

Main kitchen, outlets and cold rooms

Zone: Operations

Gas, water and power per kitchen, matched to covers.

Kitchens are the hotel's most intensive users of gas and water per square metre. Sub-metering each kitchen and outlet gives F&B a cost per cover and engineering an early warning on equipment that has started to waste.

What we monitor

  • Gas, water & electricity per kitchen — Meter reads per outlet for cost per cover, plus leak and after-hours alarms.
  • Fridge & freezer logs (HACCP) — Vision AI reads the cold-room and freezer temperature displays, so the HACCP log fills itself, and flags a walk-in door left open before the food is at risk.
  • CO2 cylinders & chemical drums — Cylinder pressure and drum levels for the bar, dishwash and cleaning stores, with reorder alarms.
  • Hood fans that follow the cooking load — Vision AI counts the stoves and fryers actually in use and Mimir signals the BMS to match extraction fan speed; demand control typically cuts that energy by 30 to 50 percent.
  • After close — Fryers and grills left on are flagged before they waste a night of gas.

Learn more

Talk to us about kitchens & restaurants

Laundry

In-house laundry and linen

Zone: Operations

Water and energy per kilo of linen.

An in-house laundry can use a third of the hotel's water. Metering it separately shows water, steam and electricity per kilo of linen and whether the recovery systems are actually saving anything.

What we monitor

  • Water & energy per load — Sub-metered water, electricity and steam or gas for the laundry.
  • Wash temperature — Where machines show wash temperature on a display, Vision AI reads it for hygiene records.
  • Per kilo of linen — Cost and consumption per kilo for outsourcing decisions and ESG reporting.

Fire safety systems

Fire pumps, sprinkler mains and fire water tanks

Zone: Plant room

Ready before it is needed, with the readings to prove it.

Fire pumps, sprinkler mains and the fire water tank are inspected on a weekly walk and logged by hand for the fire authority and the insurer. Waltero reads the same gauges and levels at a set interval between those inspections, so the readings in between are logged automatically and a slow pressure loss or a low tank is flagged weeks before the next test. It complements the mandated inspections rather than replacing them, and it is not part of the fire alarm: detection and response stay on the certified fire system.

What we monitor

  • Sprinkler riser & fire pump gauges — Vision AI reads the existing pressure gauges on risers, mains and the fire pump, so a creeping pressure loss shows up between weekly walks.
  • Fire water tank & standpipe levels — Level in the fire reserve tank and standpipes, with a low-level alarm long before the next test.
  • Kitchen fire-suppression cylinders — Cylinder pressure gauges on the hood suppression system, read on every check instead of once a quarter.
  • Records between inspections — Timestamped readings for the fire authority, the insurer and brand audits, alongside the inspection log rather than instead of it.
  • Optional: escape routes — Where privacy rules allow, a camera on an escape route can flag a blocked exit or a propped door on the next check.

Grounds & irrigation

Gardens, golf and water features

Zone: Grounds

Irrigation is the leak nobody sees.

Irrigation and water features run at night and outdoors, so a burst line or a stuck valve can run for weeks. Metering the irrigation supply and watching feature pumps catches it in a day.

What we monitor

  • Irrigation water — Metered volumes per zone; night use versus schedule.
  • Burst and stuck-valve alarms — Flow when the schedule says off means a leak.
  • Feature & fountain pumps — Run events, duration and deviations from the fingerprint on ornamental pump sets.
  • Ponds & storage — Level in irrigation storage and ornamental ponds.

Loading dock & recycling

Deliveries, waste and back of house

Zone: Operations

The back door: deliveries in, waste out, both measured.

The service yard is where fuel and food arrive and where waste, grease and wash-down water leave. It is also the part of the property nobody walks unless something smells. A few W-Sensors keep an eye on fill levels and the yard drain so collections and deliveries are planned, not reactive.

What we monitor

  • Bin & compactor fill level — Camera-based fill level on waste and recycling containers, so pickups happen when full, not on a schedule.
  • Waste & ESG reporting — Waste volumes per stream for sustainability reports and contractor invoices.
  • Yard drain & flooding — Vision AI reads the level in the yard drain and lift station against a calibrated scale, so it is flagged before it backs up into the dock.

A landmark hotel beside the pyramids, with the meters and plant rooms that come with more than a century of extensions. W-Sensors went onto the meters staff used to walk to.

W-Sensor on an existing gas metering line — no rewiring, no meter replacement
We're actually getting more accurate data than from manual inspection rounds — every reading comes in on the hour. With a manual round, the readings can't all be on the hour, because the walk itself takes time.

Challenge

Meter readings collected by hand

Meters across the property were read on walking rounds: slow, logged by hand, and never captured at the same moment. Because the walk itself takes time, no two readings were ever on the hour, so consumption between meters could not be compared cleanly.

  • Readings hours apart, never on the hour
  • Logged by hand and typed up later
  • Deviations noticed after the fact

Solution

W-Sensors mounted on the existing meters

W-Sensors were mounted on the meters already in place, including the gas metering line pictured. Edge AI on each sensor reads the register at a set hourly interval and sends the value to Mimir. No meter was replaced and nothing was rewired.

  • Mounted on existing meters, nothing replaced
  • Hourly reading interval, synchronized across meters
  • Alarm thresholds per meter in Mimir

Result

From walking rounds to acting on alerts

Accurate, synchronized hourly readings for every metered point, with more reliable data than the manual rounds produced. The engineering team stopped walking to collect numbers and now works from Mimir's alerts and trends instead.

  • Every reading on the hour, every meter at once
  • More accurate than manual inspection rounds
  • Engineering time moved from collecting to fixing

Technical specifications

Back to the property map

Built for plant rooms, not server rooms.

What the engineering and IT teams ask before a first installation, in one place. Everything here applies to every reading point on the property, from the main water meter to the sprinkler riser.

The sensor

What it reads
Mechanical and digital meters, pressure and temperature gauges, level indicators, display panels and status lamps. Anything a person can read, the camera can.
How it reads
A photo of the instrument at each interval, read on the device by Waltero's edge AI. Only the value is transmitted, never a video stream; the image behind any reading is available for audit.
Reading interval
Configurable per sensor in Mimir, from every 15 minutes to once a day. Hourly is the usual default for hotel plant and utility meters.
Mounting
Hinged adapter over the existing instrument. No plumbing, wiring or modification of the asset; the meter stays readable by hand.
Power
Battery powered, 10+ years at typical intervals. Batteries are replaced by removing two screws.
Environment
Sealed housing engineered for plant rooms, roofs, pits and outdoor cabinets.
Tamper detection
The sensor reports if it is moved or opened.

Connectivity

Network
LTE-M, NB-IoT or LTE cellular with a SIM in every sensor; Wi-Fi where a site prefers it. Coverage is checked per site before installation.
Hotel IT
None required on cellular. The sensor never joins the hotel's guest, staff or BMS network and needs no port, VLAN or firewall rule.
Gateways
None. Each sensor communicates with Mimir directly; there is no hub, repeater or on-site server.
Below ground and indoors
LTE-M and NB-IoT are designed for deep-indoor coverage. A connection survey per site confirms it before sensors go up.

Security & data

Connections
Outbound only and encrypted. The sensor calls out to Mimir; nothing can call in to it.
Audit images
The image behind any reading is available on request, so a disputed value can be checked by eye.
Attack surface
No inbound ports and, on cellular, no presence on the hotel network, so a sensor cannot be used as a way in.
Ownership
Your readings are yours: export any range as CSV, or pull them through the API.

Mimir platform

Readings
Every point on one screen, up to date as of the last interval, with the thumbnail behind each value.
Alarms
Thresholds and rate-of-change rules per point, with notifications to the people you choose.
Reporting
Consumption per meter, per utility and per period, grouped by water, gas, electricity and other; exports to Excel for energy and ESG reporting.
Integration
REST API and webhooks; readings can be pushed to a BMS, energy-management system or data warehouse.
Access
Web application on desktop and mobile; an organisation per property, with users and roles per property or per group.
